Simon Carter began driving on the Silverstone Circuit in 1982 at the age of 18 during meetings with the Silverstone Club.

In 1983 and 1984 he entered the Marlboro Challenge, the search for new British motor racing talent, reaching the final in 1984. This gave him a scholarship through the Silverstone Racing School and a place in the Marlboro Challenge Final in September of that year. The final was an extremely competitive event fought between ten British hopefuls all eager to win the coveted prize, one year’s full sponsorship with a drive in the Marlboro Formula Ford 1600 team.

An unfortunate 130mph spin at Abbey Curve dropped Simon down to third place. In 1985 Simon entered other racing competitions in order to raise sponsorship but after witnessing a huge accident in a Formula Ford race at Brands Hatch involving the Belgian Marlboro Challenge Winner, Bertrand Gachot, Simon was put off single seater racing.

After completing a Graphics Degree at Brighton University Simon studied for an MA at The Royal College of Art.

A twenty-five year career in photography, film, television, advertising, design and branding followed taking Simon around the globe. Twice.

Simon is based in London and continues to combine his motor racing and scale model building passion with the development of SRC Preparations.
